  • Seeking Assistant Prosecutor

The Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office seeks a person for the position of Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. The purpose of this position is to prosecute misdemeanor and felony cases in Magistrate and Circuit Court of Kanawha County, West Virginia, under the direction of the Kanawha County Prosecutor and supervision of the First Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. Duties which will include but not limited to:

  • Handling misdemeanor and/or felony cases for jury trials, bench trials, preliminary hearings, arraignments, plea hearings, motions, and other criminal legal proceedings.
  • Return telephone calls, emails and correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Negotiate cases with defense attorneys for an appropriate disposition.
  • Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, and responses to be filed with the court.
    Contact victims and witnesses.

  • Experienced Legal Assistant

The Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office seeks an experienced Legal Assistant to work in our office. The position requires the ability to prioritize, strong organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Duties will include, but are not limited to, preparing correspondence and legal documents, managing files and answering telephones. Excellent computer and communication skills required. Position demands a strong work ethic and consistent work performance. Must be reliable, exhibit professional phone manners and appearance. Must be able to follow directions while working independently and also must be a team player.

  • Part-time Clerk/Runner

The Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is currently seeking a part-time Clerk/Runner. Clerk position will perform various tasks, including, but not limited to, some light data entry, scanning, filing, answering telephones and other duties, as deemed necessary. Runner position will handle daily scheduled runs and some urgent errand runs to the courthouse and other locations, as directed. Regularly scheduled work hours: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.

  • Head Groundskeeper

The Shawnee Sports Complex is seeking applicants for the position of Head Groundskeeper for the Shawnee Sports Complex located in Institute, WV. Job status will be on either a contract basis or part-time employment basis with potential to become a full-time position as needed. The Head Groundskeeper will be responsible for long-term and short-term turf grass care and maintenance for more than 37 acres of multi-use athletic fields.

Head Groundskeeper is also responsible for: management of grounds crew • budget management and planning • fertilization and irrigation programs • preparing fields for tournaments and special events • identifying and maintaining adequate mowers, tools and equipment • management and protection of fields during inclement weather situations. • prepping fields to meet collegiate, high school, and other athletic playing standards as may be required • Other sports complex and park maintenance projects and duties as required.

This position will report to the Operations Manager and Executive Director of the Shawnee Sport Complex.

Compensation: Hourly or Salary, based on experience and job status.

Qualifications:

· Ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in turf grass management as well as related technical expertise. A degree in Turfgrass Management, Soil Sciences or related discipline preferred. Experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree.

· Sporting and athletic field maintenance, specifically baseball and soccer field maintenance, preferred.

· Must be very knowledgeable in the practices and principles related to turf management, including how to operate lawn care equipment and machinery.

· Must be licensed and certified to use pesticides and other controlled products.

· Must be well organized, possess a strong work ethic, a desire to excel and willingness to learn.

· Must be able to direct, manage and lead a grounds crew.

· Ability and willingness to work nights/weekends/ holidays as needed, and to work extended hours between the months of April and October.
