Department of Planning and Development
The Planning and Development Department oversees and enforces land use ordinances in the unincorporated areas of Kanawha County. Currently the ordinances in effect in Kanawha County include: flood plain regulations, subdivision regulations, public nuisances and property maintenance, adult only establishments, salvage yards, and video lottery. The Kanawha County Planning and Development Department issues building permits, oversees the demolition of abandoned structures and houses that contain methlabs.
