The County Clerk is responsible for managing a wide range of essential services and legal records. This includes voter registration and updates such as changes to party affiliation, address, or last name on voter records. The Clerk also records important documents like deeds, liens, and vital statistics such as births, marriages, and deaths, while overseeing the filing of wills and judgments.
In addition to maintaining records, the Clerk manages election processes. This includes recruiting and training poll workers, preparing ballots, conducting absentee voting, counting votes, and ensuring elections run smoothly. As the Clerk of the County Commission, they also maintain the county’s payroll, process financial statements, handle county debts, and ensure all commission orders are documented.
