Kanawha County to Demolish First Home Through New Demolition Grant Program

Charleston, WV – The Kanawha County Commission and the Town of Clendenin will be participating in the first home demolition through Kanawha County’s new Demolition Grant program. Commissioner Lance Wheeler and Mayor Kay Summers will be taking questions and comments from the media on site beginning at 10am.

The new program, created this year by the Kanawha County Commission, promotes access to demolition resources for citizens of Kanawha County. An individual may apply for this grant program to tear down blighted structures, while the Kanawha County Commission pays 50 percent of the total cost. The Kanawha County Commission has made it a priority to rid the communities of blighted structures throughout the years, and this year has dedicated $2M to the demolition program.
